What Do the Marana Police Volunteers Do?

The patrol members of the Marana Police Volunteers are trained, uniformed Marana residents or business owners. They patrol the entire community in marked vehicles, and act as additional  “eyes and ears” for the police department. Their responsibilities include reporting suspicious activity, assisting with traffic control at accident scenes, and aiding sworn officers in any other situation deemed appropriate. Their marked vehicles are radio and computer equipped, enabling the volunteers to be in constant contact with police dispatch and to react quickly to any situation.

Administrative members of the Volunteers have responsibilities including fingerprinting, clerical support, and assistance in outreach programs of the department such as neighborhood watch, vehicle identification number (VIN) etching, child ID events,  and prescription medication disposal.

In  addition, the Marana Police Volunteers have partnered with the Marana Police Department and SafeKids Pima County to educate caregivers on the correct selection, installation and use of car seats, booster sets and seat belts.
